Optimisation of Bioethanol Production in a Potato Processing Industry

نویسندگان

چکیده

Nowadays, there is a requirement for industries to eliminate carbon from their energy mix and substitute it with greener options. This calls investment in efforts facilitate the scaling up of technical advancements. Because huge amount waste, life cycle strategy has been used by industries, especially food industry, lessen environmental impact products. One sectors that burdens environment significant waste potato processing industrial sector. The current study focuses on valorisation all streams (potato peels, tubers slices, starch low-quality chips) towards bioethanol production at pilot level. After physico-chemical characterisations, several experimental trials were performed order determine optimum pretreatment hydrolysis conditions each stream. Acid hydrolysis, alkaline hydrothermal examined when no resulted low ethanol yields (below 60%). results obtained applied plant 200L examine upscaling factor. It was verified 1000 times generates comparable and, some cases, greater results. From integration mass balances typical company, full-scale implementation plan also set up, where calculated around 2 m3 per week could be produced.

Biohydrogen Production of Vinasse Derived from Bioethanol Processing Industry Wastewater: A Review

Background: Increasing global consumption of fossil fuels leads to greenhouse gas emissions, climate change and environmental pollution. Agricultural, animal and food industrial waste is one of the main sources of pollution. The bioethanol industry is one of 17 highly polluted industries. In the process of producing bioethanol, vinasse is produced, and so far 22.4 Giga litter of vinasse has bee...

Bioethanol a by-product of agar and carrageenan production industry from the tropical red seaweeds, Gracilaria manilaensis and Kappaphycus alvarezii

The two red seaweeds, Gracilaria manilaensis and Kappaphycus alvarezii are cultivated in Malaysia for producing agar and carrageenan, respectively. The residues of these seaweeds after removing agar and carrageenan by dilute acid treatment were subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis using cellulase (Cellic CTec 2). In the optimization of enzymatic hydrolysis, highest glucose concentration was achiev...

Evaluation of sweet potato for fuel bioethanol production: hydrolysis and fermentation

The enzymatic starch hydrolysis and bioethanol production from a variety of sweet potato developed for bioenergy purposes (K 9807.1) on the basis of its high starch yields, was studied. Drying at 55°C and 95°C of sweet potato neither affected the sugar content nor the starch enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency. Simultaneous saccharification and ethanol fermentations for dry matter ratio of sweet po...

Life-cycle energy efficiency and environmental impacts of bioethanol production from sweet potato.

Life-cycle assessment (LCA) was used to evaluate the energy efficiency and environmental impacts of sweet potato-based bioethanol production. The scope covered all stages in the life cycle of bioethanol production, including the cultivation and treatment, transport, as well as bioethanol conversion of sweet potato. Results show that the net energy ratio of sweet potato-based bioethanol is 1.48 ...

Yeasts in sustainable bioethanol production: A review

Bioethanol has been identified as the mostly used biofuel worldwide since it significantly contributes to the reduction of crude oil consumption and environmental pollution. It can be produced from various types of feedstocks such as sucrose, starch, lignocellulosic and algal biomass through fermentation process by microorganisms. Compared to other types of microoganisms, yeasts especially Sacc...
